The Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced that Russia is working hard to implement the agreements reached with Ukraine during the Istanbul negotiations, but pointed out that no agreement has been reached yet on the dates or arrangements of the upcoming meetings.
Peskov confirmed that there is no final agreement so far, indicating that Moscow prefers to work behind the scenes and set its own conditions for a ceasefire based on what was agreed upon on May 16th.
This came in response to statements by the Finnish president about the possibility of holding technical negotiations in the Vatican next week, with European and American mediators, where the Kremlin denied any specific arrangements so far.
Peskov also denied a report by the "Wall Street Journal" that quoted Trump as saying Putin is not ready for peace, confirming that Trump's official statements do not align with what was published in the newspaper.
The Kremlin also denied allegations of stalling in the negotiations, emphasizing that all parties are actively working to reach an agreement, while Moscow and Kyiv are expected to announce their conditions for a ceasefire as part of diplomatic efforts sponsored by Washington.
Trump, who pledged during his campaign to end the conflict within 24 hours, confirmed that Moscow and Kyiv will immediately start negotiations with the aim of reaching a ceasefire, despite the lack of a clear timeline so far, while Ukrainian President Zelensky expressed his lack of knowledge about the details of this new proposal.
