The Kremlin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin informed his American counterpart Donald Trump in a phone call today, Thursday, that Moscow will not back down from its goals in Ukraine, but remains interested in resolving the conflict through negotiations.
Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters that Trump raised the issue of ending the war quickly during a conversation that covered many topics.
Putin confirmed that Russia is ready to continue negotiations, but Moscow continues to focus on addressing what it calls the "root causes" of the conflict, now entering its fourth year.
