Kremlin comments on minister's suicide hours after his dismissal

In an incident that sparked significant reactions in Russia and worldwide, where the Minister of Transport, Roman Starovoit, committed suicide following his dismissal yesterday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented on the incident, confirming that the investigation into its circumstances is ongoing, clarifying that President Vladimir Putin was immediately informed of the incident.
In a statement by the Russian Investigative Committee, it was reported that the investigative authorities in the Moscow region are working to determine the circumstances and causes of death, with the main scenario indicating that it was a suicide.
Similarly, media sources revealed that Starovoit was supposed to be arrested this evening on charges of financial corruption and embezzlement.
It is worth noting that Starovoit's body was found with a gunshot wound in his personal car in the Odintsovo area of the Moscow region, alongside a personal pistol he received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2023 as a recognition of his efforts for the state.
Yesterday, President Putin issued a decision to relieve Starovoit from his position, which he had held since last May, and appointed his deputy, Andrei Nikitin, as the acting minister.
