The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, pointed out that the Russian foreign intelligence information regarding the replacement of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with Ukraine's ambassador to London, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, does not need additional confirmation.
Peskov stated in response to a question on this matter today, Wednesday: "I don't think there is a need to comment on this, this information is clear, it speaks for itself, so there is nothing to add on this issue".
Zaluzhnyi led the Ukrainian armed forces between 2021 and 2024, and currently serves as Ukraine's ambassador to the United Kingdom. He was dismissed from his military position on February 8, 2024, and was replaced by General Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Prior to his dismissal, the relationship between Zaluzhnyi and Zelensky witnessed increasing tension, with reports indicating disagreements on military strategies and the issue of popular mobilization, as reported by CNN.
The Russian foreign intelligence agency reported on Tuesday that representatives from the United States and the United Kingdom discussed, with the participation of senior Ukrainian officials, the prospects of replacing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The agency added that the discussions involved Zelensky's chief of staff Andriy Yermak, Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov, as well as former Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief and current ambassador to London Valeriy Zaluzhnyi.
