The Israeli cabinet is officially considering the occupation of Gaza with American support.. and Washington announces funding for new humanitarian centers

The Israeli cabinet (the small ministerial council) held an emergency meeting today, Thursday, August 7, amid governmental divisions regarding the military and political path in Gaza, while reports indicated that Washington has given Tel Aviv a "green light" to make its decisions freely.
According to Axios, the cabinet discussed a plan to occupy the main areas in the Gaza Strip, especially those believed to hold Israeli prisoners. Channel 12 reported that government sources indicated the meeting could result in a decision to "expand military operations, occupy the city of Gaza, and displace nearly a million Palestinians to the south."
For its part, Channel 12 confirmed, citing American officials, that President Donald Trump "does not intend to intervene in the Israeli decision and will allow Israel to act freely." At the same time, the American ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, announced that Washington will fund the increase of aid distribution centers in Gaza from 4 to 16 centers, in a move described as part of a "plan to evacuate Palestinians from the central areas to the south."
Protests against the occupation plans have taken place in the streets of Tel Aviv, where demonstrators demanded Benjamin Netanyahu's government prioritize a prisoner exchange deal and end the war.
In Gaza, confrontations escalated after the Israeli army targeted populated areas, resulting in casualties including 3 Palestinians from one family due to the bombing of a residential apartment. Areas such as the Beach Camp and Nuseirat Camp were subjected to heavy shelling, while footage documented the targeting of civilians as they searched for food aid near the Zikim area in the north of the strip.
