Iranian President Warns of the Possibility of Dams Drying Up that Supply Tehran with Water

Bazkiaan said during his visit to Zanjan in northwest Iran, "If we cannot manage the situation in Tehran, if people do not cooperate and we cannot rationalize water consumption, there will be no water left behind our dams."
He added that reserves may run out by October when schools usually reopen and the need for water increases before the start of the rainy season.
According to a chart published by the official news agency "IRNA," water reservoirs serving Tehran currently contain only 20% of their capacity.
The national average water reservoir level is only 44%.
According to the Tehran Province Water Supply Company, reservoir levels have dropped to the "lowest level in a century."
Authorities have urged residents to install water tanks and pumps to cope with supply interruptions, as many households have reported frequent cuts in recent weeks.
