Despite the short duration of the recent war that broke out between India and Pakistan, which almost escalated into a devastating nuclear war had both countries not refrained from fighting, the Indian army admitted for the first time today, Saturday, that it lost a number of fighter jets in the clashes with Pakistan in May. The Chief of Defense Staff of the Indian Armed Forces, Anil Chauhan, said in an interview with Bloomberg: "It is not important to just focus on the downing of the jets, but rather the reasons behind it and the mistakes that were made," emphasizing that "the number is not important." Pakistan possesses advanced air defense capabilities, including a variety of systems covering different altitude and range levels. These developments come after a serious deterioration in relations between the two nuclear-armed countries since militants killed 26 people on April 22 in an attack in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir.
