In an official announcement broadcasted from the city of Busra al-Sham in the eastern countryside of Daraa, the "Eighth Brigade" declared its sudden decision to completely dissolve itself, thus ending a chapter that lasted for years as one of the prominent armed formations in southern Syria. The announcement stated that all military and human resources belonging to the brigade will be fully handed over to the Ministry of Defense in the Syrian Arab Republic, reflecting a radical shift in security dynamics in the region. This move was made in direct coordination with official authorities, with Captain Mohamed Al-Qadri assigned to oversee logistical and administrative procedures to ensure a smooth transition without any field or organizational obstacles. This step is being implemented under the supervision of the Syrian Ministry of Defense and the leadership of Brigadier Marhaf Abu Qasra, indicating seriousness in reorganizing the military scene in the south. This announcement marks a qualitative development in the context of the state regaining its influence in Daraa province, especially after years of tensions and fragile reconciliations that led to the emergence of local formations playing security and military roles within specific agreements. With the dissolution of the Eighth Brigade, questions arise about the fate of similar formations and the extent of the state's ability to impose full central authority in an area still witnessing intermittent tensions and repeated attempts to reposition by local forces.
