The American embassy in Syria said today, Monday, we affirm that diplomacy means a physical presence and working to enhance U.S. interests.
It added: "Nicholas Granger, the Director of the Regional Syria Platform, led a joint U.S. interagency delegation to Damascus on August 3."
According to the embassy, the visit aims to hold technical discussions with Syrian counterparts on several issues.
During the meeting, discussions were held on financial sector reforms, economic opportunities, locating missing Americans, ensuring humanitarian aid access, and expanding security cooperation, according to the embassy.
It continued: "The meeting discussed the re-establishment of a permanent diplomatic presence in Damascus."
