The US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Hacabee, affirmed yesterday, Thursday, that the Hamas movement has no future in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that Gaza's future must be free of this movement.
In response to a question from Israeli Channel 12 regarding an American proposal for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, Hacabee said: "We hope that the matter is settled, but everything depends on what Hamas is willing to accept".
In a significant development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Israel's agreement to a ceasefire proposal in Gaza, also pledging to "return all hostages" held there.
Meanwhile, Hamas announced that it is in consultations with Palestinian factions regarding the proposal.
US President Donald Trump revealed last Tuesday, through his platform "Truth Social", that a lengthy and productive meeting took place between American and Israeli officials in Washington, during which the necessary conditions were agreed upon for a 60-day ceasefire, as a prelude to ending the war in Gaza.
