A rare and astonishing appearance... "The Black Devil" surprises scientists on the surface of the sea in broad daylight!
In an unprecedented scene, the "Black Devil" fish (Melanocetus johnsonii) was spotted for the first time ever swimming on the surface of the sea in broad daylight, despite being known to inhabit the deep depths, where it usually lives at depths ranging from 200 to 2000 meters.
The surprising discovery took place off the coast of Tenerife, when marine biologist David Jara Boguña captured the rare moment and posted a video of the mysterious fish on Instagram, commenting:
"This may be the first recorded sighting in the world of a live Black Devil on the surface and in broad daylight!! A legendary fish that only a few people will have the privilege of seeing alive."
A creature from the depths of darkness emerges into the light:
The "Black Devil" fish is known for its terrifying appearance, with its dark black body and wide mouth full of sharp teeth. It also has a luminous dorsal appendage that it uses as bait to attract its prey in the depths of the ocean, just like it appeared in the movie Finding Nemo.
But the puzzling question: Why did this terrifying fish appear on the surface?
Scientists offer several explanations, it could be due to illness, unknown marine disturbances, or perhaps as an escape from a more terrifying predator chasing it in the depths!
Wide reactions and frightening questions:
The video garnered over 436,000 likes, shared by more than 7000 accounts, amid controversial comments. One user wrote: "Perhaps it was fleeing from something... something terrifying in the depths!", while another said: "When deep-sea creatures start appearing on the surface, something dangerous is happening underwater!"
Are we on the verge of uncovering new secrets about the depths of the ocean? Or is there something more mysterious than we imagine?
