According to what was published by the Syrian Interior Ministry via Telegram, quoting the Director of Security in the Damascus countryside, Major "Hussam Al-Tahan," regarding the recent clashes in the city of Jaramana in the countryside of Damascus.
Al-Tahan said: "Last night, as members of the Syrian Ministry of Defense entered the city of Jaramana to visit their relatives, they were stopped at a checkpoint belonging to what is known as the Jaramana Shield and were prevented from entering with their weapons." He continued: "After handing over their weapons to the checkpoint personnel, they were beaten and insulted before their car was directly fired upon."
Al-Tahan added: "Following the shooting incident, one member was killed instantly, while another was injured and captured by the checkpoint personnel. This was followed by an attack on the police station in the city, where the station personnel were expelled amidst insults, their weapons were confiscated. Despite Jaramana Shield's initial denial of detaining the captured member, he was later handed over after contacting the elders."
He emphasized continuing efforts in cooperation with the elders in the city to pursue all those involved in the shooting incident.
Al-Tahan added: "We are also working on returning the police personnel to the relevant department, and we emphasize that we will not allow any party to violate Syria's unity. Our only concern is those who committed the attack and assault. We call on the rational minds to realize that this path threatens the security, stability, and unity of Syria."
Since the fall of the ousted Assad regime in Syria, the Syrian interior has witnessed a state of tension and chaos due to sabotage groups affiliated with the defunct regime, with ongoing efforts by the General Security under the Ministry of Interior to maintain security and the safety of residents in various provinces.
