The Syrian representative to the United Nations Security Council, Bashar Jaafari, stated that Syria "rejects Israeli occupation attempts to exploit the painful events in Sweida to launch aggressive acts".

In his speech during the UN Security Council session to discuss the developments in Syria on Monday, Jaafari added: "We strongly condemn all the shocking violations witnessed in the province of Sweida".

Jaafari mentioned that the Syrian government coordinated with UN agencies to safely evacuate their staff and foreign nationals, and succeeded in doing so.

He confirmed that several humanitarian convoys were sent to Sweida through the Syrian Red Crescent in cooperation with humanitarian partners.

He pointed out that the Syrian government reaffirms its commitment to expanding the access of humanitarian partners and commends the efforts of the United Nations.

He added: "We are committed to ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to Sweida despite security threats".
