The Syrian Arab Red Crescent participated today, Wednesday, in a solidarity stand organized by the Palestinian Red Crescent in front of Yafa Hospital in Damascus, condemning the Israeli attacks on medical teams in the Gaza Strip. According to "SANA," Dr. Atef Ibrahim, the director of the Palestinian Red Crescent in Syria, stated that this stand is part of a series of stands organized by the Red Crescent branches in the region in solidarity with the medical teams in Gaza who are facing Israeli attacks, including the deliberate killing of eight members of the Palestinian Red Crescent and several civil defense members while performing their humanitarian duties. Ibrahim mentioned that the aim of these solidarity stands is to support our people in Gaza and the medical teams carrying out their professional and humanitarian duties, and to pressure the international community and organizations to prevent these attacks and compel the Israeli occupation to respect international laws. On the other hand, the field coordinator at the Syrian Red Crescent, Mohammed Saeed, affirmed that medical teams worldwide are protected under international humanitarian law and should not be targeted, especially as they are at the forefront of providing humanitarian aid, emphasizing that their participation in the stand is based on the necessity of collective efforts to protect humanitarian workers. The public relations and media officer at the Palestinian Red Crescent, Jamal Saeed Hamad, explained that the Israeli occupation killed and executed eight volunteers and paramedics, then buried them in an attempt to cover up their crime, noting that the Palestinian Red Crescent in Ramallah and its branches in Arab countries have condemned this crime and demanded the prosecution of its perpetrators, in addition to several solidarity stands held in various locations around the world in support of the medical teams in Gaza.
