Minister of Transport in Syria, Dr. Yarob Badr, met on Tuesday a high-level Jordanian delegation including the President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce in Amman, Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, and a number of Jordanian traders, to discuss trade, transport, and investment opportunities. During the meeting, both sides discussed enhancing economic and trade cooperation between Syria and Jordan, focusing on developing the transport sector as a key element in bilateral relations. They emphasized improving transport infrastructure, facilitating the movement of goods and passengers across border crossings, enhancing the efficiency of these crossings, and revitalizing land and rail transport between the two countries. Dr. Yarob Badr stressed Syria's keen interest in developing relations with Jordan in various fields, especially in the transport sector, which is crucial for supporting trade and investment facilitation. He highlighted the ministry's commitment to removing any obstacles that may hinder movement between the two sides. Minister Badr emphasized the importance of continued dialogue between stakeholders from both sides to overcome obstacles and achieve effective integration in this vital sector. On his part, Al-Haj Tawfiq expressed appreciation for the Syrian government's efforts in supporting economic cooperation, noting that the Jordanian private sector is eager to enhance its partnership with counterparts in Syria. He underscored the importance of opening new horizons for businessmen and investors, and providing a conducive environment to boost trade. At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination and hold regular meetings to follow up on the agreed-upon matters, serving mutual interests and enhancing regional cooperation in the fields of transport, trade, and investment.
