Syrian Minister of Communications Discusses Ways to Enhance Cooperation with the EU Charge d'Affaires

The Syrian Ministry of Communications and Technology stated through its official channels that Minister Hikmat reviewed the vital projects of the ministry, including the "Silk Link" project aimed at transforming the country into a strategic corridor for data movement between Asia and Europe, enhancing Syria's position on the global digital map, and the "Barq" project aimed at providing stable high-speed internet service to citizens and institutions, enhancing quality of life and supporting digital development across the country. Hikmat emphasized the importance of the communications sector in supporting various segments of society and facilitating their daily lives.
The Minister also mentioned plans to build an integrated digital infrastructure in preparation for launching the e-commerce phase in Syria and enabling financial institutions and banks to actively connect and exchange financial transactions with the highest security standards.
In turn, Onmakht confirmed that the ministry's projects will contribute to creating new job opportunities and expressed the EU's readiness to cooperate to provide effective support in Syria as it is the optimal country for investments, in addition to the genuine interest of EU countries in providing full support through European aid and expertise exchange, ideas, and knowledge.
