Syrian Interior Ministry: The road between Damascus and Sweida returns to life after completing security measures

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the completion of final preparations to reopen the Damascus – Sweida road, after a period of suspension due to recent events in the governorate. This announcement comes as part of the ministry's efforts to restore normal movement to one of the most vital arteries connecting the capital with the southern governorates.

In an official statement issued today, Wednesday, the ministry confirmed that it has completed all necessary security steps to secure the road, noting the readiness of specialized units to ensure the safety of travelers and the stability of transport and trade movement.

The statement added that "the ministry is committed to meeting the needs of citizens in the Sweida governorate and facilitating their movement to and from Damascus, under carefully studied security measures that ensure the road remains safe and secure for everyone." It also emphasized that work is ongoing to complete the remaining arrangements, which solidify stability and enhance confidence in state institutions.

This development is considered an important step towards restoring communication between the governorates and returning commercial and social activity to its natural course, amid official assurances that security and stability in all Syrian regions remain a top priority.
