Syrian Health Minister Discusses Ways to Cooperate in Healthcare with EU Mission

The Syrian Health Minister, Dr. Moayad Al-Ali, discussed today, Thursday, with a delegation from the European Union mission led by Michael Onmaht ways to enhance mutual cooperation in the healthcare field.

Minister Al-Ali emphasized during the meeting the importance of strengthening relations with EU countries that have supported the Syrian revolution, highlighting the need to support the pharmaceutical industry to secure basic needs, train healthcare personnel to enhance their efficiency, address shortages, and rehabilitate damaged healthcare facilities.

The Minister Al-Ali also reviewed the health situation in Syria and the negative impacts caused by the destruction of healthcare facilities, infrastructure, severe shortages of equipment and supplies, emphasizing the necessity of providing hospitals and healthcare centers with necessary devices and equipment for operation.

On his part, Onmaht clarified that the visit aims to assess Syria's needs, identify key priorities for rehabilitating the healthcare infrastructure, stressing the importance of supporting Syria in the upcoming phase, and providing facilitations for it to rely on its own resources and local industries.
