Syrian Health Minister and the World Health Organization discuss enhancing the response to health emergencies in Syria.

The Syrian Minister of Health, Dr. Maysalun Ali, met with the Executive Director of the Health Emergencies Program at the World Health Organization, Dr. Michael Ryan, on the sidelines of the 78th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, which started on May 19 under the theme "One World for Health."
Both sides discussed ways to enhance the organization's response to health emergencies in Syria, expand support to address current health challenges, with a focus on improving technical and institutional infrastructure for rapid response.
The proposals included supporting early warning systems, updating emergency protocols, as well as providing necessary technical and logistical resources.
Minister Ali invited Dr. Ryan to visit Syria to assess the reality of the health sector and evaluate field needs, emphasizing that "close cooperation with the World Health Organization is fundamental to the stability of health services in the country."
The World Health Assembly will continue until May 27, with the participation of member states' representatives to discuss global health challenges and ways to enhance international cooperation in this field.
