The Syrian Foreign Minister Receives the New Mauritanian Ambassador and Accepts His Credentials

The Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani, received today, Sunday, the new ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the Syrian Arab Republic, Taleb Mokhtar Mohammed al-Mujtaba, at the ministry's headquarters in Damascus.

During the meeting, Minister al-Shaibani received a copy of the ambassador's credentials, welcoming the start of his diplomatic duties in Syria, and emphasizing the importance of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries in various political, economic, and cultural fields.

Both sides stressed the necessity of activating joint Arab cooperation and exchanging experiences in international forums, in a way that serves the interests of the Syrian and Mauritanian peoples and enhances regional stability.

This meeting comes within the framework of renewing diplomatic representation between Damascus and Nouakchott, amid official trends to expand Syria's foreign relations and open up to friendly countries in the African continent.
