Syrian Finance Minister Announces Comprehensive Plan to Reform Public Banks

Syrian Finance Minister, Mohammad Yasser Bernia, announced today, Tuesday, June 24, the launch of a comprehensive reform plan for public banks during a meeting with the directors of these banks.


During the meeting, the performance of public banks was evaluated despite "the corruption and distortions left by the previous regime", Minister Bernia explained, indicating that the reform plan was prepared "in collaboration with the Central Bank of Syria and other regulatory bodies, after professional scrutiny and review".


Bernia emphasized that the plan aims to "modernize public banks in Syria, develop their services, enhance their competitiveness, and role in development", reflecting the government's efforts to strengthen the banking sector and enable it to actively contribute to the advancement of the national economy.
