Syrian Defense Minister: We want a professional volunteer army so that loyal soldiers will join it.

The Syrian Minister of Defense, Major General Engineer Marhef Abu Qasra, stated that the image and reputation of the former Syrian army have been tarnished due to the crimes committed against the Syrian people, and today we are working to bridge the gap between the army and the people.

In a special interview with the Syrian channel "Al-Ikhbariya" today, Monday, Abu Qasra said: "We met with about 130 factions to discuss the new structure of the army and we have achieved great success in integrating them within the ministry." He added: "We will not allow anyone to be outside the authority of the Ministry of Defense."

Abu Qasra confirmed that there is cooperation with the Ministry of Interior to pursue the remnants of the regime, control and confine weapons to the state, and prevent any aggressions or violations against the Syrian people.

He said: "We are working on organizing the armed forces and activating officers and military personnel within the Ministry of Defense, which enhances the efficiency of these forces and institutional work."

He continued: "We are working on maintaining military educational facilities to be ready to receive armed forces personnel," emphasizing that the defected officers are eager to build the armed forces, serve the country, and efforts are being made to attract them.

He added: "We will build an army with a military and national doctrine to protect the Syrian people."

The Major General further stated: "We want a voluntary professional army so that loyal soldiers join it."
