Syrian Telecommunications Denies Recent Cyber Intrusions on Websites

The Ministry of Communications and Technology denied the existence of recent cyber intrusions on Syrian websites, affirming that all claims regarding this matter are baseless.
The ministry explained that it is monitoring the information circulating through some media outlets and social media platforms about allegations of recent cyber intrusions targeting Syrian government websites, confirming that there are no new intrusions, and that all claims of recent cyber intrusions on Syrian websites are unfounded. The current circulation is old leaks that were previously shared, and do not pose any new cybersecurity threat.
The ministry pointed out that many of the websites mentioned in these claims have been inactive for a while, with some completely out of service. From a technical perspective, their impact or breach at the present time is not possible, indicating that the re-shared content is old and does not reflect the current technological reality.
The ministry also noted that it has detected several phishing attempts targeting individuals through deceptive messages and links aimed at collecting user data fraudulently, confirming that these attempts have not affected the digital infrastructure.
The ministry urged citizens to be vigilant, raise their security awareness in dealing with digital sources, stating: Today we face technical challenges due to the existence of a number of government websites that were developed in previous periods without sufficient consideration for cybersecurity standards, in addition to difficulties in managing these websites due to the cessation of the developing companies or their non-responsiveness. Therefore, it has been necessary to temporarily suspend a number of these websites until their situations are resolved.
In this context, the cybersecurity teams affiliated with the ministry, in cooperation with a group of Syrian experts inside and outside the country, continue to work on updating the digital infrastructure, enhancing technical readiness, and strengthening protection systems.
The ministry emphasized its commitment to transparency and will inform the public of any real developments related to Syrian digital space security. It also calls on citizens and media outlets to verify accuracy, rely on official sources of information, and not be swayed by misleading campaigns aimed at causing unwarranted concern without basis or evidence.
