The Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management has called on parents to adhere to safety measures while swimming, to act responsibly and consciously to prevent drowning incidents that increase during this time of the year, with the start of summer and rising temperatures.

Emergency Minister Raed Al-Saleh urged avoiding swimming in prohibited areas of the sea, lakes, rivers, and unsafe water bodies, emphasizing the continuous supervision of children while swimming to ensure their safety, stressing that moments of joy and relaxation should not turn into sorrow.

According to Civil Defense statistics, water rescue teams responded to 30 distress calls for drowning incidents in various Syrian regions from the beginning of the year 2025 until June 8, rescuing 6 people, while recovering 19 bodies.
