The High Commission for the Syrian People's Council Elections announced today, Saturday, the issuance of executive instructions for selecting members of the subcommittees in the electoral districts, within a regulatory framework aimed at enhancing transparency and ensuring the electoral process runs smoothly.

Organizing the Electoral Work According to Presidential Decree and Temporary System

The issuance of the instructions came based on Presidential Decree No. (66) related to the formation of the High Commission for Elections, and on the provisions of the temporary electoral system ratified by President Ahmad al-Shara under Decree No. (143) of 2025.

The Commission confirmed that this step comes to ensure the optimal selection of subcommittee members and to achieve the highest levels of transparency.

Timeline for Selecting Subcommittees

The High Commission for Elections has set the following timeline for implementing the stages of selecting subcommittees:

Receiving nominations for subcommittees: August 23 – 25, 2025
Announcing proposals for subcommittees: August 26, 2025
Receiving objections to the formation of subcommittees: August 27 – 28, 2025
Deciding on objections: August 29 – 30, 2025
Issuing final lists for subcommittees: August 31, 2025
The subcommittees will begin receiving nominations and proposing members of the electoral bodies in each electoral district starting September 1.

Comprehensive Supervision and Coordination with Local Entities

The High Commission also announced the formation of supervisory committees to ensure the efficient management of the electoral process, and to coordinate with various local entities to achieve optimal representation and transparency in all stages of the elections.
