The Syrian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, and the Head of Doctors in Syria, Dr. Malik Atwa, held a meeting on Monday at the ministry's headquarters in Damascus to discuss ways to enhance coordination between the medical and academic sectors, ensuring the development of health and educational services.
The meeting addressed several important issues, most notably the rehabilitation of Hama University Hospital and the development of a plan to improve the quality of medical services provided there. The two sides also discussed the issue of private universities in northern Syria and ways to ensure the rights of students wishing to continue their studies, in addition to the conditions for transferring students from foreign universities, "especially in Turkey," to Syrian universities.
Minister Al-Halabi emphasized the role of digital transformation as an effective tool in combating corruption, pointing out its successful application during the unified selection process for doctors. He also stressed the importance of cooperation among professional syndicates, especially the Doctors' Syndicate, in ensuring the success of the national medical exam and guaranteeing its integrity.
The meeting also touched on the policy of accommodating and rehabilitating students residing in university hospitals, focusing on the need for coordination between the Ministry of Higher Education and the Doctors' Syndicate in appointing and distributing medical staff, in line with the actual needs of university hospitals and improving the quality of health services.
For his part, the Head of Doctors, Dr. Malik Atwa, emphasized the "necessity of having accurate statistics that reflect the actual needs of university hospitals for doctors," noting that this would contribute to the development of medical staff and improve the performance of the health sector.
This meeting comes as part of joint efforts to enhance cooperation between educational institutions and professional syndicates, to ensure the provision of advanced medical and academic services that meet the needs of the Syrian community.
