Syria and Azerbaijan Discuss Areas of Cooperation in Higher Education

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Syria, Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, discussed today, Thursday, with the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Damascus, Nour Shah Huseynov, areas of cooperation in higher education, scientific research, exchange of expertise, digital transformation, and cybersecurity.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to cooperate in the field of digital transformation, cybersecurity, raising the standards and accreditation of Syrian universities, reactivating scholarships between the two parties, in the field of scientific research and preparation of relevant joint studies, external publications, exchange of expertise, and workshops.

Minister Al-Halabi confirmed the ministry's readiness to hold online bilateral meetings and establish a communication and coordination committee to organize cooperation between the two sides.

In turn, Huseynov mentioned the possibility of cooperation in exchanging expertise, establishing electronic systems, international accreditation, allocating 25 scholarships for Syrian students in various fields, especially in medicine, engineering, and technology.

Bilateral relations between Syria and Azerbaijan entered a new phase after the fall of the former regime, especially after the resumption of diplomatic relations and the activation of the Azerbaijani embassy's work in Damascus after a 12-year hiatus, promising to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
