Sweden Sentences ISIS Member Involved in the Killing of the Kasasbeh Pilot to Life Imprisonment

A Stockholm court sentenced a Swedish ISIS member to life imprisonment on Thursday for his involvement in the burning death of the Jordanian pilot, Moaz al-Kasasbeh, in Syria.
Judge Anna Lillienberg Gulliesio stated in a statement issued by the Stockholm court, "The defendant was present at the execution site dressed in military attire and armed, and agreed to be filmed. He played a crucial role in the victim's killing and must be considered complicit in the crime."
The Swedish court is the first to prosecute an individual for this murder, which sparked international outrage in 2015.
Last week, the Swedish Public Prosecution Authority announced its intention to charge 32-year-old Swedish national, Osama Karem, with the "execution" of Kasasbeh, along with several others suspected of belonging to ISIS.
