The head of the Civil Status Department in Damascus, Abdullah Abdullah, said today, Monday, that "the department dealt swiftly and decisively with the video circulating on social media showing one of the department's employees receiving a bribe from a citizen to facilitate a personal transaction."
Abdullah added that the employee has been suspended from work and referred to the public prosecutor's office for further investigations.
Abdullah also emphasized the department's commitment to performing its duties to the fullest and its firm rejection of any unethical practices such as accepting bribes or pursuing personal interests by employees.
