Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, today Tuesday, affirmed his country's commitment to the unity and stability of Syria.

According to the Iraqi news agency "WAA", al-Sudani said in an interview with the American "Associated Press": "Syria represents a national security for Iraq, and its stability is important to us. We are keen for the Syrian people to enjoy security, stability, and a political process that includes all its components. There must be a clear stance against terrorism, violence, hatred, and extremism, and what some groups have done in Syria is terrible and regrettable, reminding us of the terrorism that hit Iraq".

Al-Sudani added: "We reject the division of Syria, and we presented an initiative to establish a national dialogue among the components of the Syrian people at the Arab Summit held in Baghdad".

Regarding the tragic situation in Gaza, al-Sudani said: "What is happening in Gaza is a real setback to all humanitarian, ethical, and legal standards, and it paints a bleak future for the international community, as Gaza is witnessing a genocide in the midst of famine and killing, which is regrettable. It is unacceptable to continue issuing statements, condemnations, and expressions of concern, and all parties must take responsibility to stop the aggression and initiate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip".
