Following the announcement by the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport in Syria regarding the commencement of flights to Istanbul starting from the tenth of this month, Turkish authorities stated today that "AJet" airline will begin operating direct flights from Istanbul and Ankara to the capital, Damascus. The Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Örnek, was quoted by Anadolu Agency today as saying that "the first flight of the Turkish company to Damascus will depart from Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Istanbul on the 16th of this month." He added that "flights from Ankara to Damascus will start on the 17th of this month from Esenboga Airport to Damascus International Airport." The Minister noted that flights from Istanbul to Damascus will be operated 4 days a week, and from Ankara to Damascus 3 days a week, alternately. He explained that there are plans to increase flights from Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Istanbul to Damascus to 7 days a week, starting from next July. The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport in Syria had announced today the start of flights to Istanbul from the tenth of this month.
