Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi confirmed that the level of destruction currently occurring in the Gaza Strip is unprecedented, emphasizing that Egypt is making diligent and ongoing efforts to stop the ongoing war and to work on delivering humanitarian aid, alongside coordinating the release of hostages and prisoners.
The president's statements came during a visit to the military academy at the strategic state leadership headquarters in the new administrative capital, where he pointed out that Cairo has recognized the seriousness of the escalation in Gaza since 2007 and has consistently sought to avoid it, in order to protect the lives of Palestinian civilians who pay the highest price in any confrontation.
The president added that the Egyptian state, despite the smear and misinformation campaigns it faces, continues to play its pivotal role in the Palestinian cause, based on its historical and humanitarian responsibility.
For his part, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the presidency, explained that President Sisi then followed the morning assembly of the military academy students, praising the high level demonstrated by the students in terms of physical fitness, self-confidence, and discipline, which was clearly evident during the practical training.
President Sisi also joined the academy students for breakfast and exchanged dialogue with them about the importance of commitment to serious training and continuous academic achievement, emphasizing the necessity of being aware of the challenges facing the state, whether at the local, regional, or international level.
These statements come at a time when the Gaza Strip is witnessing a serious military escalation, amid intense regional and international diplomatic efforts to contain the situation, while aid convoys heading to the sector are being attacked, the latest of which was announced by Jordan regarding one convoy being attacked by Israelis while on its way to Gaza.
