Shocking Report .. Thousands of Palestinians Victims of Arrest and Forced Disappearance in Syria Since 2011

The Working Group for Palestinians in Syria issued its comprehensive statistical report titled "The Painful Harvest", documenting the killing of 4,965 Palestinian refugees since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution until the end of 2024, along with thousands of detainees and forcibly disappeared individuals.
The report clarified that the number of detainees reached 7,237, 96% of whom are male, while cases of forced disappearance amounted to 5,370, which is about 72% of the total detainees, amidst the absence of any information about their fate even after the fall of the previous regime. Yarmouk camp in Damascus recorded the highest number of victims with 1,596 killed, including 194 women, and was the most affected by the number of detainees and victims of torture, where 294 individuals died under torture inside prisons.
The report indicated that the main cause of death inside the detention centers was torture with 1,298 victims, followed by shelling with 1,230 victims, then direct gunfire with 1,110 victims.
Despite this, the number of those released did not exceed 562 individuals, while 1,305 others were killed under torture, which the group considered evidence of a systematic extermination policy against Palestinians.
The report warned that these numbers do not reflect the full extent of the tragedy due to the difficulty of documentation and fear of disclosure, calling for the establishment of an independent international mechanism to investigate the fate of the forcibly disappeared and hold accountable those responsible for torture crimes, in addition to enhancing support for UNRWA and expanding psychological and legal assistance programs for the families of victims, emphasizing that these statistics represent a humanitarian cry demanding the international community not to ignore the suffering of Palestinians in Syria.
