The spiritual leadership of the unified Druze Muslims, led by Sheikh Hikmat Al-Hajri, appealed to the international community and influential global powers to urgently act to save Sweida Governorate from the "violence campaign targeting civilians", which they described as "organized massacres".

A statement issued by the leadership today stated: "We address our appeal to His Excellency President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, His Majesty King Abdullah II, and all those who have a voice and influence in this world to save Sweida".

The statement added that the people of the governorate are "being exterminated, killed in cold blood, without distinction between young or old, woman or child, doctor or sheikh".

The statement accused what it called "the oppressive tyrannical ruling clique" of committing massacres and destroying churches and places of worship, considering it a systematic campaign targeting the sect's members. It also held the international community morally and humanly responsible to intervene before it is too late.

Referring to the internal Syrian situation, the leadership called on "our Sunni brethren in Syria to take a clear stance towards what is happening to their Syrian brothers", affirming that the relationship between the two sects "has never been enmity or hostility", but they are no longer able to coexist with a "regime that only knows rule by iron and fire".

The statement concluded by saying: "Our appeal to you is not political, but humanitarian and ethical, intervene before it is too late to save a people being killed simply for demanding life and dignity".
