Scotland Urges British PM to Evacuate and Treat Injured Gaza Children Urgently
In an urgent humanitarian appeal, Scotland's First Minister, John Swinney, called on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to cooperate immediately to rescue the children of Gaza who have been injured due to ongoing Israeli bombardment of the besieged city.

Swinney stated in a letter to the British Prime Minister this month that Scotland is "ready" to receive hundreds of injured children, numbering around two thousand, for treatment in the National Health Service, noting that Gaza's healthcare system is on the brink of total collapse due to shortages and the destruction of many hospitals.

He added in a statement to the British "PA Media" agency: "It is very sad that the British government has not opened a dialogue on the possibility of evacuating these children for necessary medical care, as without it they are at risk of death."

Swinney pointed out that surgeons in Gaza are working day and night in dangerous conditions with continuous power cuts and hospital bombings, affirming Scotland's readiness "to do whatever it takes to save as many children's lives as possible."

This appeal comes after Swinney's meeting with UNICEF, which warned of a severe health crisis requiring swift action, emphasizing that time is running out to help the injured children in Gaza.

The Scottish First Minister concluded by saying: "We need the support of the Labour government to evacuate the children from Gaza through the British visa system and bring them to Scotland for treatment. I urge the Prime Minister to contact us immediately to save the lives of these young ones."
