Multiple Fires in Syria Leave Injuries and Material Damage.. Civil Defense Facing Major Challenges

Syrian civil defense teams dealt with a series of fires that broke out in various areas of the country, resulting in injuries and material damage, amid warnings of the situation worsening due to rising temperatures.
In Idlib province, teams controlled a fire that broke out in a residential house on Forty Street in Maarat Misrin city, where a man was injured with burns and was transported for treatment. They also dealt with other fires that included a vehicle, agricultural land, and a garbage pile in different neighborhoods of the city, in addition to a grass fire near the municipal stadium in Salqeen city.
In the countryside of Damascus, civil defense teams extinguished a fire that broke out in a fuel selling shop on the Arabiyn-Hazza road, causing material damage without any injuries.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed Al-Saleh, revealed that firefighting teams have dealt with more than 4000 fires across the country since the beginning of last April until the 7th of the current July.
Al-Saleh explained in a tweet on the "X" platform that these fires have drained the efforts and capacities of the teams, especially in the face of difficult weather conditions and complex geographical nature. He also pointed out that Aleppo province recorded the highest number of fires, followed by Latakia, where agricultural and forest fires constituted the largest percentage of the total incidents.
According to official data, firefighting operations required thousands of hours of work, with a significant focus in Latakia province, known for its vast forest areas and difficult mountainous terrain.
This comes at a time when civil defense teams continue their efforts to combat recurrent fires, with experts warning of their exacerbation due to rising temperatures.
