SANA Launches Its New Identity: A Media Kickoff with a Modern National Vision

In his speech during the ceremony, the Director-General of the agency, Mr. Ziad Al-Mahameed, affirmed that this moment represents a new dawn for SANA, restoring the value of its original journalistic message as a professional national agency that conveys news truthfully and addresses the world with the voice of true Syria.
Al-Mahameed explained that SANA inherited an institution burdened by stagnation, relying on dictation rather than research and fieldwork, with a dilapidated infrastructure unworthy of Syria's name. He added: "We began the journey of transformation from a journalist waiting for instructions to a field journalist who verifies the accuracy of information and conveys it professionally."
The agency has organized training workshops that instilled values of credibility and responsibility, and transformed the previous party hall into a live training space that graduates a new generation of journalists in partnership with local and international institutions.
SANA has moved from media isolation to a modern presence through a new website, supported by the latest audience engagement tools, with an expanded network of correspondents covering all Syrian provinces and a growing international network.
The agency adopted five main languages: English, French, Spanish, Turkish, and Kurdish, with specific editorial policies for each audience to ensure effective communication of the media message.
SANA has launched new production lines that include high-quality videos, professional photos, and human reports that place the human element at the heart of the news, enhancing the humanitarian aspect of media coverage.
The agency has begun using artificial intelligence tools to accelerate journalistic work while maintaining the journalist's sense and professional conscience, contributing to a 600% increase in website visits and a 400% increase in engagement on social media.
Al-Mahameed concluded his speech by thanking the Minister of Information Dr. Hamza Al-Mustafa, and the SANA team who faced challenges with team spirit, affirming: "We promise you that we will continue to work until SANA becomes a home for all Syrians, and a window for the world onto a new, free, and honest Syria."
