SANA: Firefighting teams are battling large forest fires in the countryside of Hama, Latakia, and Tartus

Firefighting teams, supported by the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, continue their efforts to contain the forest and brush fires raging in the countryside of Hama, Latakia, and Tartus, amid difficult challenges due to strong winds, high temperatures, and rugged mountainous terrain.
The official SANA agency reported that in the countryside of Latakia, the fires concentrated in the Turkman Mountain areas, including Eagle Hill and Kasab, in addition to the forests between the villages of Kafarta and Balla in the Kurdish Mountain. The teams managed to stop the spread of the flames along the Beit Yashout - Latakia road, while cooling and monitoring operations continue.
In the countryside of Hama, firefighting teams, with the support of local residents, are working to protect the villages of Abu Klifoun and Anab from the approaching flames, despite the difficulty of opening fire lines in the rugged rocky terrain.
These fires come at the peak of their annual season, as heatwaves and drought increase the risk of forest fires, especially in mountainous areas with high forest density. Authorities are working to enhance civil defense capabilities and develop rapid response plans, in addition to awareness campaigns to preserve vegetation cover and prevent fire causes.
