Russian Foreign Ministry: Concerned about Threat of New Attacks on Iranian Nuclear Facilities

Russia expressed its concern today, Wednesday, about the threat of new attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, adding that it is possible to reach an agreement on Tehran's nuclear program through dialogue.

The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, told reporters: "The repeated threats against Iran to launch new missile and bomb attacks on its nuclear facilities must be of great concern. What adds to the irony of these statements is that they are made under the guise of fake concern about preventing the spread of nuclear weapons".

Zakharova added: "Bombing nuclear facilities should not become a common practice or a repeated international practice. The catastrophic risks associated with it cannot be ignored, especially in justifying it".

Zakharova emphasized that reaching a sustainable peaceful settlement and committing not to launch new attacks on Iran are two essential conditions for cooperation between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Russia has strengthened its relations with Iran since its war in Ukraine, signing a strategic partnership treaty with it during the current year.

Israel and the United States bombed Iranian nuclear sites in June with the stated goal of preventing Tehran from possessing nuclear weapons. Iran denies any such intention.
