In the early hours of Friday morning, Kyiv authorities announced that the Ukrainian capital had come under a widespread attack by dozens of Russian combat drones.
Timur Tkachenko, head of the military administration in Kyiv, stated in a Telegram post, "According to preliminary information, we have several fires in the Solomianskyi district," confirming that all these fires broke out in residential buildings.
Tkachenko mentioned the possibility of injuries, but has not provided additional details yet. Reports have indicated damages from the attacks in at least four other areas within the city, with Kyiv experiencing anti-aircraft fire sounds for hours during the night.
The Ukrainian Air Force announced that the Russian army also used at least one supersonic missile in this attack.
Earlier, Donetsk region governor Vadym Filashkin reported that at least five people were killed as a result of Russian attacks in the eastern part of Ukraine, with 12 others injured.
He explained that two men were killed in the city of Bokrovske near the front line, while three others fell in the villages of Bilynky and Ilyenivka.
Filashkin urged the remaining residents in the area to flee to safer places amid the ongoing airstrikes.
Ukraine has been facing a large-scale Russian invasion for over three years, supported politically and militarily by the West.
