Russia: Handing over "Assad" is not an option.

Russian Ambassador in Baghdad, "Elbrus Kutrashev," clarified on Thursday, April 3rd, that Bashar al-Assad has the right of asylum in Moscow and extradition is not an option. During an interview with the Iraqi channel "Al-Sharqiya," the Russian ambassador stated that one of the conditions for the former Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, to reside in Moscow is to refrain from any media or political activities. The ambassador also emphasized that Russia does not engage in such deals, and the fall of Bashar al-Assad was not due to a Russian or Iranian stance, but rather because of the situation in Syria and the regime's own position. It is worth mentioning that on January 28th, Bogdanov visited Damascus and met with the Syrian President for the transitional phase, Ahmed al-Sharaa, and other Syrian officials. Following the visit, Reuters reported that al-Sharaa requested Moscow to hand over Bashar al-Assad, a request that Moscow officially declined to comment on through the Kremlin. On March 10th, during an interview with Reuters, the Syrian president refused to confirm whether Moscow had requested the extradition of Assad.
