Rural Damascus reopens vehicle registration transactions with simplified procedures and reduced fees.

The Directorate of Transportation in Rural Damascus has announced the resumption of services for registering new vehicles and transferring ownership starting next Sunday, as part of a comprehensive plan to develop the organizational structure and improve the quality of services provided to citizens.
Engineer Abdel Nasser Al-Khaled, the director of transportation in Rural Damascus, confirmed to "SANA" agency that the directorate has prepared two new halls, one dedicated to registering vehicles for the first time, while the other deals with ownership transfer procedures. The halls have been equipped with the latest technical devices and qualified staff to ensure efficient and speedy transaction processing.
Al-Khaled also mentioned a significant reduction in documentary requirements, now limited to the detailed ID of the vehicle owner, customs certificate, and customs inspection certificate, with the necessity of bringing the vehicle and the mechanic's logbook to complete the procedures. He also highlighted the allocation of a separate hall for women to facilitate their transactions and avoid overcrowding.
In a related context, the official explained that the ownership transfer fees have been adjusted to be equivalent to the previous licensing fees, with the final charge not exceeding 300,000 Syrian pounds per vehicle, as part of a policy to ease the financial burden on citizens.
Regarding technological updates, Al-Khaled revealed the completion of a project to integrate vehicle databases from various provinces, including Idlib, into a unified system using an efficient program previously used before the liberation. He added that work is currently underway to include data from the eastern regions and the areas of Afrin and Azaz, which recently came under the ministry's supervision.
In conclusion, the transportation director emphasized that these measures are in response to the ministry's policy aimed at simplifying procedures, reducing costs, and optimizing the time and effort expended in vehicle registration and ownership transfer transactions.
