The Rural Damascus Court issues a decision prohibiting smoking and openly eating during iftar inside the courthouse, under penalty of accountability.

As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches, the Judicial Department of Rural Damascus, affiliated with the Ministry of Justice, issues a decision prohibiting smoking and openly eating in front of visitors and employees at the courthouse, out of respect for fasting individuals.

The statement reads: "To all visitors and employees at the Judicial Department of Rural Damascus, best wishes on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan."

It further states: "Due to the sanctity of the blessed month of Ramadan, please refrain from smoking and openly eating out of respect for fasting individuals."

It was also mentioned that violators will face necessary legal actions, including detention and prosecution under Article 517, based on the provisions of the first paragraph of Article 208 of the Penal Code for the offense of indecency in public, as per the general Penal Code.
