- U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday that President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have made sufficient progress to justify a meeting with Ukrainian President and European leaders.
In statements to CBS, Rubio added that both Russia and Ukraine will have to make concessions to end the war, noting that the United States may not be able to come up with a scenario that guarantees peace.
Rubio said: "I am not saying we are on the verge of a peace agreement, but I am saying we have seen sufficient progress to justify a subsequent meeting with Zelensky and the Europeans."

European leaders will accompany Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to meet with Trump in Washington on Monday, seeking his support as Trump pressures Ukraine to accept a quick peace agreement after his meeting with Putin on Friday in Alaska.
