In an important step to enhance tourist destinations in Syria, the Minister of Tourism, Mazen Al-Salehani, met with the Governor of Damascus, Maher Marwan, to discuss the restoration project of Mount Qasioun, a prominent historical and cultural landmark in the capital. During the meeting held today at the Ministry of Tourism building, both sides emphasized the need to prepare a comprehensive action plan aimed at developing the architectural and aesthetic design of Mount Qasioun in line with its historical and aesthetic value. Participants presented a range of proposals for site development, including creating terraces for clear panoramic views from all directions, establishing parks and family seating areas that preserve privacy, as well as implementing artificial waterfalls and seasonal tourism projects including terraces, restaurants, medical facilities for visitors, a sports club, and a car park. It was also suggested to illuminate the mountain in a simple and effective traditional way, with professional lighting displays on certain parts, in addition to street lighting inspired by Damascus heritage, and beautifying sites to enhance the visual identity of the area. Minister of Tourism, Mazen Al-Salehani, pointed out that the continuous cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Tourism and Damascus Governorate effectively contribute to the implementation of these projects aimed at enhancing the country's tourism sector and restoring its landmarks. Governor Maher Marwan emphasized the importance of implementing the project sustainably, noting that the development of Mount Qasioun was inspired by a beehive, designed to allow residents and visitors to move between nature, waterfalls, and parks in one place, within a unique narrative called "Qasioun Narrative."
