The Brazilian star and Barcelona player Rafinha accused the management of Disneyland Paris of racism after his young son, "Gael," was ignored by one of the park's entertainment characters, unlike what happened with white children, according to his statement.
In an angry post on his official Instagram account, Rafinha shared videos showing the moment the mascot ignored his two-year-old son while hugging other children.
The footage shows that the child "Gael" was standing next to the mascot, pointing at it as if asking for a hug, but there was no response.
In another attempt, an unidentified adult was seen holding the child and bringing him closer to the cartoon character, but the attempt failed, as the clear ignoring continued.
Rafinha said in his post:
"Your staff are disgraceful. People should not be treated this way, especially children. You are supposed to make children happy, not ignore them. I prefer to use the word 'ignored' instead of another description, but shame on you."
He explicitly accused the management of Disneyland, pointing out that the discrimination in dealing with children was evident:
"I understand that the staff may be exhausted, but why did all the white children get a hug while my son was not embraced?"
So far, there has been no official comment from Disneyland Paris regarding these accusations, despite the British newspaper "Daily Mail" reaching out to them for a response.
The incident sparked widespread interaction on social media, with calls for accountability from those responsible and demands for an official clarification from the global company that has always raised the slogan "Happiness for All Children."
