Russian President Vladimir Putin renewed his sharp criticisms today, Tuesday, towards NATO and European countries, considering that their actions represent a direct threat to Russia.
In statements from the Chinese capital, Beijing, Putin confirmed that "the West, with the help of NATO, seeks to occupy the entire post-Soviet space," highlighting his country's concern about this move.
Putin pointed out that the hostile actions of NATO and European countries put Russia in a position that requires a response, but at the same time emphasized that Moscow does not seek aggression:
"We are protecting our interests, but we do not wish to attack any country," confirming that any claims regarding Russia's intention to attack Europe are either "provocation" or "incompetence."
Regarding the war in Ukraine, the Russian president firmly rejected his country's accession to NATO, but on the other hand, pointed out that Moscow does not oppose its accession to the European Union.
Putin also spoke about the new American positions, praising what he described as "listening to Russian concerns and anxieties," considering that this approach shows a more understanding response from President Donald Trump's administration to Russia's security concerns.
