Miguel Uribe, a member of the opposition right-wing party and a presidential candidate in next year's elections, was shot after being fired upon during an electoral gathering in Bogota on Saturday, according to the Colombian government.

A video posted on social media showed the candidate, Miguel Uribe (39 years old), delivering a speech during a campaign event in the west of the capital when gunshots were heard. The assailant shot him twice in the head and once in the knee before being apprehended.

In another scene, Uribe is seen covered in blood lying on the front of a car before being carried by a group of people into a passing vehicle.

A security guard managed to apprehend the suspect, believed to be a 15-year-old minor, while the police director Carlos Fernando Triana stated that the attacker was injured during the incident and is receiving medical treatment.

Two other individuals, a man and a woman, were also injured, and a "Glock" firearm was found at the scene.
