President Trump: "I await the results of the meeting" between Putin and Zelensky

U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "are working to arrange a meeting between them" to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, expressing his anticipation for the results of this awaited meeting.
Trump's statements came during a radio interview on "The Mark Levin Show" on Wednesday, where he said: "I await the results of the meeting." He indicated that the "killings" in the war must stop, according to what was reported by Reuters.
This development comes two days after Trump announced on Monday that he was starting arrangements for a face-to-face meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents. Sources revealed to Axios that this meeting is expected to take place by the end of this August.
Negotiations are underway regarding the suitable location for the meeting, with French President Emmanuel Macron proposing the Swiss city of Geneva to host it. On the other hand, the Kremlin made a different suggestion, as two sources familiar with the matter revealed on Tuesday that President Putin proposed during a 40-minute call with Trump to hold the meeting in the Russian capital, Moscow.
According to what was reported by AFP, one of the sources said: "Putin talked about Moscow during their call, but Zelensky responded with 'no'."
Trump clarified that all decisions regarding the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis "should be made by the Russian and Ukrainian presidents, as the United States is too far from the theater of military operations."
For its part, the Kremlin quoted spokesperson Dmitry Peskov as saying that no date has been set for this meeting yet, indicating that negotiations are still in their early stages.
These statements followed Trump's hosting of President Zelensky at the White House on Monday, in the presence of key state leaders and allies, including French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The attendees confirmed at the end of the meeting, which was characterized by a positive atmosphere, the necessity of providing security guarantees to Kyiv to defend its security and sovereignty.
