Portugal Following Britain in Recognizing a Palestinian State

The office of Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro announced on Thursday that his government will consult with the president and parliament with the aim of recognizing a Palestinian state at the United Nations in September, according to Agence France-Presse.
A statement said that Portugal is considering "recognizing a Palestinian state as part of a measure that may be taken during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September".
Yesterday, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that his country also intends to recognize a Palestinian state at the United Nations in September.
